Red's Links for Libs

After getting severely scorned for not using more "links" (to back-up my opinions) by a smalltime local liberal blogger, I decided to do this post because it does raise an interesting point.

Note: I intentionally usually do NOT take the lazy way out by simply linking to a bunch of stories by other bloggers and the main-steam-media (which is broken). I post MY opinions based on information (and a few links) which is easily googled and confirmed or refuted, if you are really concerned.
If you notice my header it say's
Red Stater News and Views "ACCORDING to Red Stater"
. (not according to Airhead America)
The blog world (and news world) is entirely based on "the facts" (according to someone) and "the truth" (according to somebody). Nothing is absolute when you are relying on facts based on someone else's account. One needs to look a other sides to a story in order to form an opinion and not just posting useless, mindless links to prop up your agenda.
Now having said that, it is great to provide a few links for reference or background, but too many bloggers (according to me) cherry-pick too many stories from like-minded bloggers off of the AP or other news service and end up "cloning" every other political news blog out there.
Face-it you are NEVER going to beat Matt Drudge, so why not express YOUR interpretation of the news and events of the day rather than pretending you are Dan (Rather)?
This is the only "link" I really need, since I am writing about "Red Stater" opinions.

But here you go, this set of special helpful "links" is for you. Hope it makes you feel better - Enjoy.
First we'll discuss the WMD controversy.

To be fair, lets only use what Democrats said about Saddams WMD program as "truth". Did Iraq have WMD?

Harvard Law's "What makes a Weblog a Weblog" says that of the 3 basic attributes which compose a weblog, "All three are optional, but if one of the basic attributes is most optional it's the link".

I could go on all night but what a lazy way to "blog" so I'll just leave you with this final "link".

Now, back to "According to Red Stater".

At what point did God join a political party? It has sickened me the way that politicians, terrorists, and hate mongers have used God to promote their own agendas. I don't care if you are on the right side of the fence, on the left, in the middle, flying above the fence, or buried six feet below, using God to spread your agenda is just plain wrong!

Hello red!

Thanks for going through all this trouble in your effort to drag me toward the truth.

I hit several of the links you provided for my enlightenment, and was disturbed to find a link to the degenerate junkie who was recently busted at the airport with a bag full of erectile dysfunction drugs with someone elses name on them, returning from a foreign country known for rampant child prostitution.

Good choice to bolster your worldview.

Further down I find someone still linking Abramoff to Democrats when his Republican ties were without dispute:
WASHINGTON (AP) — In President Bush's first 10 months, GOP fundraiser Jack Abramoff and his lobbying team logged nearly 200 contacts with the new administration as they pressed for friendly hires at federal agencies and sought to keep the Northern Mariana Islands exempt from the minimum wage and other laws, records show.

Abramoff is clearly a Republican creature, joined at the hip with hired killer, Tom Delay:

Forced Abortions & Sweatshops: A Look at Jack Abramoff's Ties to the South Pacific Island of Saipan & How Tom DeLay Became An Advocate for Sweatshop Factory Owners.
[...]
BRIAN ROSS: In fact, American authorities have discovered many Chinese workers are forced to sign secret agreements, known as shadow contracts, before they leave China, severely and, in some ways, illegally restricting their activities while on American soil. For example, in this agreement translated into English by American authorities, workers are forbidden to participate in any religious or political activity or to ask for a salary increase or even to fall in love or get married, much as might be the case in mainland China.

ALLAN STAYMAN: To allow them to bring that on to U.S. soil is a very deep concern. We've now documented the facts that management coerces female workers who become pregnant into having abortions.

BRIAN ROSS: Several of the cases, the government says it has documented, were at this factory, the one with a contract to make Ralph Lauren Polo t-shirts. This Chinese woman, Tu Xiao Mei, made t-shirts and pants at the factory until she became pregnant.

TU XIAO MEI: When I told them I was pregnant, they told me to have an abortion.

BRIAN ROSS: Tu Xiao Mei says she refused to have the abortion and has now been barred from entering the factory.

BRIAN ROSS: And you're going to have your baby?

TU XIAO MEI: Yes.

BRIAN ROSS: Will you get your job back then?

TU XIAO MEI: Cannot.

BRIAN ROSS: Cannot get her job back, she says.

BRIAN ROSS: We want to ask you about the abortions, do you know about the complaints?

BRIAN ROSS: The bosses at the factory said they didn't want to talk about what they called ridiculous allegations. But human rights workers say it's common practice at this factory and others.

ERIC GREGOIRE: With 11,000 Chinese workers here, I have never seen a Chinese garment factory worker have a baby in my entire four years on Saipan.

BRIAN ROSS: There are no children in those barracks?

ERIC GREGOIRE: None. Inside that factory Chinese law applies, and Chinese law is supreme.

BRIAN ROSS: Even though it's the United States of America?

ERIC GREGOIRE: That’s right. The flag doesn't fly inside there.

AMY GOODMAN: And that was Eric Gregoire, a human rights worker who was talking to Brian Ross. This next excerpt also from Brian Ross's report on ABC's 20/20, which aired in 1998. This clip deals with Tom DeLay's connection to Saipan. Brian Ross again speaks with the human rights activist, Eric Gregoire.

BRIAN ROSS: Saipan has cultivated some powerful friends back in Washington, spending millions of dollars on lobbyists and free trips in the middle of the winter for members of Congress and their staff. Congressman Tom DeLay of Houston, the third-ranking Republican in the House, went as a guest of the Saipan government over the Christmas holiday, a trip that included a tour of several factories and barracks, with one that even Congressman DeLay had to concede was nothing to write home about.

TOM DeLAY: But, you know, this trip has been very beneficial.

BRIAN ROSS: Still, at a fancy New Year's Eve dinner thrown in his honor, DeLay praised the outgoing governor and vowed to fight efforts back in Washington to change Saipan's immigration and labor laws.

TOM DeLAY: Because you are a shining light for what is happening in the Republican Party, and you represent everything that is good about what we're trying to do in America, in leading the world in the free market system.

Is this true?

Does the Republican party want a bunch of slaves to screw everyway possible and force abortions on women to maintain production levels?

I had no idea.

One thing I am on your side red, is corruption. We can throw spitballs and links back and forth til doomsday about who is dirtier, Dems or Repugs, but the truth is, many politicians have the stain of special interest money quid pro quo on them.

As a "small-time local blogger" I am interested in changing the system of campaign finance, or whatever is necessary to reduce the corporate influence on our elections.

Best to you

As will rogers once said (paraphrasing) YOu don't have to be around politics very long to realize that each party is worse than the other.

On that we agree.
As far as scandal goes there is one major difference in the two parties however.
One party forces wrong doers to resign (Frist, Foley etc) and the other party nominates them for committee chairmen and Senate leaders (Studds, Barney Frank, Elcee Hastings, Rangel, Reid, etc)

You and I are asking for the same thing... for the other to admit their side has men in it who are less than admirable.
what's so hard about that?

I know there are Republicans and people in every segment of society that do bad things.
What happens after that is where I take issue with Democrats as far as corruption goes.

The bigger issue however is the fact that one party recognizes we are in a war (WWIII) and who the enemy is and the other party is only worried about getting back their power, refusing to admit there is any enemy except George W Bush.

I don't want Democrats to be running around 5 or 10 years from now when Islamic terror ends up threatening our very existance, screaming WHY DIDN'T BUSH DO ANYTHING back in 2006 when he knew there was a threat and didn't tell us.
What did he know and when did he know it.

You and I both know that is EXACTLY what they will do.

Join the fight to save the Planet and we'll argue about corporate greed, abortion, slavery and all that stuff AFTER we survive this.

Deal or no deal?

That is why there are 3 links to 3 different sources on the same thing regarding WMD there oilcan.
Take the time to go to all of the links I worked my fingers to the bone getting for you.

Since you attempted to discredit one of my sources...
you link to Dick Meyer more than any source on your kittenstomper site...
the same Dick Meyer who approved Dan Rather's FAKE story and FAKE "documentation" about George Bush's military record.
The same Dick Meyer who calls himself a "journalist" but only writes hit-pieces on Bush and Republicans... he is an opinion editorialist at best... political hack more likely fits the bill.

And YOU had the nerve to attack me on my "linking" skills. lmao

Find a new source other than the CBS democrat broadcasting network for a change.

He didn't do anything. When presented with evidence "Osama bin Laden Determined to strike in US" Bush reportedly told the briefer, "All right, you've covered your ass now."

Saddam did not attack us, was not connected to 9/11, was not a threat, had no WMD's.

Bush is a collosal failure as a President.

Okay oilfieldguy, I am talking about Islamic throatcutting fascists and you go back to Saddam and "no WMD" in spite of the fact that EVERY single Democrat that you hold as sacred said the exact same thing as your hero John Kerry said...
"Anyone who doesn't think Saddam is a threat doesn't deserve to be President.

Try to focus, I know it's difficult for Bush-haters to focus on anything except the 2000 election and the mantra "Bush Lied".

One more time, just for you.
Currently (as in now) there is a very large reigious cult intent on taking the world back to the dark ages and beyond into TOTAL destruction. (try to resist the urge to go into "Bush lied" mode)

If we (conservatives and liberal) don't stop them, they are going to take over Iraq and use it to take over the middle east and use it to take over the world.

I'm sorry that you are stuck in the year 1999. But unfortunately that is a luxury we can't afford.
Wake-up please, forget about Bush.

If Hillary Clinton were saying we must stop these killers at any cost... and Republicans were saying there is no such thing as terrorists, I would vote Clinton in 08.
THis isn't about partisan politics it's about our grandchildren.

I'm sorry you can't see past your current Bushrage just once for the future of American (and the world)
And you call yourself a "progressive thinker"?
