Demonizing Capitalism and Success: A Saturday Morning Communist Manefesto

From TV to movies to kiddy cartoons... there is only one true villain to Hollywood and those on the left and that villain is the so-called evil capitalist corporate CEO.

Our children are being spoon fed hatred for success in business, anti capitalism and communism everywhere they turn for entertainment.

Who is the villain in the new 3d movie "G-Force"? The CEO of course.
Who was the villain in the Santa Clause movies? The CEO of course. Movie after movie and TV show after TV show the theme is the same... terrorists aren't evil but success is.

From a USA Today article back in 2004-

"CEOs didn't even escape this summer's sci-fi releases: Halle Berry becomes Catwoman due to skin cream made addictive; Dr. Otto Octavius turns villain in Spider-Man 2 in a gone-haywire attempt to make a profit; and I, Robot exposes the ultimate warranty hassle when products made by U.S. Robotics start killing humans because sleazy executives in 2035 try to cut a few corners.

Documentaries are enjoying unprecedented success, and they can thank CEO bashing: The Corporation and Super Size Me are built on the premise that companies have moved beyond evil to psychopathic, or at least deceitful enough to plot our plumpness.

There aren't many bad guys left. Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid warmed us to train robbers in 1969. The Godfather nearly did the same for mobsters in 1972. When the remake of the 1962 film The Manchurian Candidate arrived this summer, even communism was off the table. It had been replaced as villain by shadowy corporate execs out to privatize the White House.

Lawyers, the butt of so many jokes, are portrayed as heroic when they're up against a corporation, says Paul Argenti, a professor of corporate communications at Dartmouth's Tuck School of Business, who tracks how the media treat CEOs.

About the only villains left are terrorists and CEOs — and terrorists will probably be portrayed as sympathetic long before CEOs, says Robert Thompson, director of the Center for the Study of Popular Television at Syracuse University.

On the screen, CEOs are swimming like never before at the bottom of the low-life barrel.

It's a law, like gravity, going back to silent movies such as Metropolis (1927), The Crowd (1928), and Modern Times (1936), which depict CEOs as villains and socialism as a better alternative. Before that, it was literature. Remember Scrooge, the executive who wouldn't give his devoted worker with a sick child time off on Christmas Eve?"

Harmless or hurtful?

It's only getting worse. But do they deserve it? "It's a bum rap," says Robert Crandall, former CEO of American Airlines.

A more important question may be whether disparaging CEOs is harmless entertainment or does it have a lasting impact on a system that has made the USA the world's economic engine?

"Most CEOs are honest and hardworking. Creating the idea that all CEOs are bad is adverse for society," says Crandall, who, while widely respected, was not universally loved by his troops.

Get used to it. CEOs have long awaited the promised production of the movie Atlas Shrugged from the 1957 Ayn Rand novel that portrays business leaders as heroic and society's saviors. The screenplay is supposedly being written, but that's been reported before.

Experts struggle to come up with examples of CEOs portrayed as good. Nell Minow, who has a rare combination of expertise as a movie critic and a corporate watchdog, says the 1954 movie Sabrina is an atypical case where a stodgy executive played by Humphrey Bogart falls in love and grows a heart.

We forget that Jimmy Stewart's George Bailey is a good-guy CEO in It's a Wonderful Life (1946) because nemesis Mr. Potter is CEO of a larger company trying to force him out of business, Minow says.

Classic Chevy Musclecar Billboard Designs

Clunker Program Designed To Destroy The Evidence

Have any of the cars you have driven drawn a crowd just sitting there?
Have legendary songs been written about the kinds of cars you drive?
Do the words "rumpety-rumpety" mean anything to you?

So..
How would you go about ridding the planet of the cars legends are made of and convince everyone to drive golf carts and other assorted miniature electric cars?

"AP - WASHINGTON — The government's popular "cash for clunkers" program may be running out of money after only a matter of days as car shoppers flock to dealerships to take advantage of the rebates."
Just like shooting fish in a barrel...
"...Dubbed the Car Allowance Rebate System, or CARS, the program offers owners of old cars and trucks $3,500 or $4,500 toward a new, more fuel-efficient vehicle, in exchange for scrapping their old vehicle. Congress last month approved the plan to boost auto sales and remove some inefficient cars and trucks from the roads."
The program mandates that all the cars and trucks (clunkers) traded in must be scrapped and crushed.
Destroyed.
Forever.

Got it yet? No?

Okay, I'll give you a big bag of yummy candy if you'll trade me your classic old favorite metal and wood toy for this shiny new ugly boring cheaper plastic and paper-mache toy, so I can sell the metal from your favorite toy for scrap and make sawdust out of the wood, thereby forever ridding the planet of your disgusting heavy old clunker of a toy.
Got it now?

Some of us watched the death of the muscle cars in the early 1970's and for two decades beyond. Then in recent years we have seen the birth of the "retro" Mustang, GTO, Charger, Challenger and finally the Camaro... just in time to see them bludgeoned to death again like baby seals in a few years. Hide and watch.

The only way you're gonna draw a crowd to look at one of these new ugly electric cars is to set it on fire and yes, people turn their heads as it goes by alright... the OTHER way!

So, to you morons that are trading in your classic cars or cars that soon will now be classic cars... for Obama's candy and paper mache toys, I say this... I hope the batteries go dead in your Obamacar during a rainstorm 100 miles from the nearest coal powered plug-in someday and you have to hitch a ride with someone in a 55 Chevy.
Rumpety-rumpety.

From The "Who Would Have Thunk it?" Dept.

Wiki-
"Wood burning does not release any more carbon dioxide than the eventual biodegradation of the wood would if it was not burned.

Wood burning can therefore be considered "carbon neutral" - the CO2 released to the atmosphere by combustion is recycled continuously into new plant growth as part of the carbon cycle, while the energy released during combustion is simply a form of stored solar energy."

As Obama's Approval Ratings Plummet, ...."This President Needs a Vacation"

Apparently spending trillions of dollars you don't have and spreading socialism while lying to voters on a daily basis on TV is very stressful work....

NBC News-
WASHINGTON - Despite his public-relations blitz over the past two weeks to promote his plans to reform the nation's health-care system — including holding two town halls on Wednesday — President Barack Obama has lost ground on this issue with the American public, according to the latest NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll.

Pluralities now say that the president’s health care plan is a bad idea, and that it will result in the quality of their care getting worse. What’s more, just four in 10 approve of his handling on the issue.

The poll also finds that Obama's overall job-approval rating has dropped to 53 percent. And it shows a public that has grown increasingly concerned about the federal government's spending as the administration defends its $787 billion economic stimulus and supports a $1 trillion-plus health-care bill.

“This is a president who needs a vacation,” says Democratic pollster Peter D. Hart, who conducted the survey with Republican pollster Bill McInturff. His job rating is … certainly an acceptable mark. But if you look at it over time, it has [gone] south without a doubt.”

VP Joe Biden's Approval Ratings Lower Than Dick Cheney's !

LA Times:

"While the president hops down to North Carolina and back to Virginia today, selling more healthcare plans whose billions of dollars will absolutely positively not add one Chicago dime to the deficit, Vice President Joe Biden has another full day of secret closed meetings in Washington.

According to the Veepster's schedule, after taking Monday off to accompany his wife to the doctor, he'll have a closed briefing on whatever the Recovery Act is or is not doing. Then, for the remainder of the entire day, Biden will have hour after hour of meetings with unidentified people on unidentified subjects. Don't even ask.

In the evening, he'll return to his Delaware home to recover.

Also, some polling news for Biden buffs:

According to a new Washington Post survey, a clear majority of Americans (55%) approve of the job Biden's doing, perhaps because thanks to schedules like today's, they can't know much about what that job he's doing actually is.

Biden's numbers are tied closely to Americans' belief in the economic efficacy of President Obama's stimulus package. Those who think it'll work, like him; those who don't, don't.

Those Biden approval numbers still aren't quite as good as Dick Cheney's April approval of 64% from a 2001 Post poll. But then Cheney is Obama's cousin and talks way less than Biden, who used to call Cheney the most dangerous vice president in U.S. history.

Biden's approval numbers, however, are way better than House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's. Which actually isn't saying much...

Obama & Co. "Making Offers You Can't Refuse"

Michelle Malkin has a new book on the best sellers list. "Culture of Corruption: Obama and his team of tax cheats, crooks and cronies".

Her piece today "Bully Boys a Brief History of White House Thuggery" outlines Obama's brass knuckles style of Chicago politics as usual in brief detail.

"Six months into the Obama administration, it should now be clear to all Americans: Hope and Change came to the White House wrapped in brass knuckles.

Ask the Congressional Budget Office. Last week, President Obama spilled the beans on the Today Show that he had met with CBO director Douglas Elmendorf – just as the number-crunchers were casting ruinous doubt on White House cost-saving claims. Yes, question the timing. The CBO is supposed to be a neutral score-keeper – not a water boy for the White House. But when the meeting failed to stop the CBO from issuing more analysis undercutting the health care savings claims, Obama’s budget director Peter Orszag played the heavy.

Orszag warned the CBO in a public letter that it risked feeding the perception that it was “exaggerating costs and underestimating savings.” Message: Leave the number-fudging to the boss. Capiche?

While Democrats Boast About Being Ashamed of America...

Sarah Palin spoke at a picnic honoring the military this weekend. No fanfare and no apologies.

Her words, "“Let us continue to love our country, be proud of our country, never apologize for our country (Full Story), ...sounded very much like another great conservative I know of and admire.

"And when you were threatened from outside, the Americans left the safety of their own homes to come and defend you. I will never apologize for the United States of America.” -Duncan Hunter 11/28/07

The Mighty Oklahoma Blackjack Tree

Oklahomans may take it for granted but the "Blackjack Oak" is a member of the Red Oak family which thrives exclusively along a unique belt of forest called The "Cross Timbers" region spreading from north-central Texas throughout the eastern half of Oklahoma and into southeastern Kansas.

The term Cross Timbers is used to describe a fairly narrow strip of land in the United States that runs from southeastern Kansas across Central Oklahoma to Central Texas.[1] Made up of a mix of prairie, savanna, and woodland,[2][3] it forms part of the boundary between the more heavily forested eastern part of the country and the almost treeless Great Plains,[2][3][4] and also marks the western habitat limit of many mammals and insects.[2]

No major metropolitan areas lie wholly within the Cross Timbers, although roughly the western half of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex does, including the cities of Fort Worth, Denton, Arlington, and Weatherford.[3] The western suburbs of the Tulsa metropolitan area and the northeastern suburbs of the Oklahoma City metropolitan area also lie within this area.[2] The main highways that cross the region are I-35 and I-35W going north to south (although they tend to skirt the Cross Timbers' eastern fringe south of Fort Worth) and I-40 going east to west. Numerous U.S. Highways also cross the area.[2][3]

Blackjack Oak
Quercus marilandica

Characteristics: Blackjack oak is a medium-sized, deciduous, native tree that can reach a height of sixty feet. It is one of the most common oaks in Oklahoma and one of the dominant Quercus species in the cross timbers region of Oklahoma and Texas. It is an upland oak, most common on sandy soils.

Area of Importance: Most of Oklahoma and Texas, except the panhandles and far western Texas.

Attributes: Deer, quail, turkey, squirrel, raccoon, and other wildlife eat blackjack oak mast (acorns). The tree also provides cover for many wildlife species.

I.D. Tip: Blackjack oak belongs to a group classified as red oaks because its leaf veins continue through the margin (edge) of the leaf and create small, needlelike extensions. This oak, like other species in the group, produces acorns on the previous years' branch growth. It can be identified from a distance by its black bark and has a tendency to retain very tough, dead lower branches that form a drooping canopy. Blackjack oak leaves are usually triangular and are broadest near the tip.

One Name Conspicuously Missing From "Most Trusted Name" Poll

I heard about this story on TV but when I read about it over here it hit me. This "poll" is a prime prime example of liberal bias in the media. While we all laugh and joke and kid about Jon Stewart being the most respected name in news, the setup and obvious bias and manipulation of the poll is completely overlooked... intentionally so I contend.

The real question is that with names like Joe The Plumber (not a newsman), Racheal Maddow (not a newsgal) and Jon Stewart (does fake comedy news) on the list, how is it that the actual most listened to and most trusted and most respected voice (also most hated) on the news of the day by a huge huge (no contest) margin is somehow conveniently absent from their poll on "Who is the Most Trusted Name In News"?

Why is that do you suppose?

Democrats Hoping to Run "Fake Right, Go Left", Play

The Fourth District Democrat has spilled the Democrat strategy for 2010.
They are trying to pull the old Rahm Emanuel "fake right, go left" play on voters in Oklahoma.

Urging voters to elect a "centrist Democrat" i.e. phoney conservative, taking a play straight out of the 2006 elections where under the direction of Rahm Emanuel, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid, conservative sounding Democrats ran in Republican controlled districts under the guise of being a "centrist" and in doing so, (along with a couple manufactured scandals) gained total control of the US House and Senate in the process.

Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid now pressure those formerly "centrist" Democrats into voting with the radical liberal left Democrats and wa-laah one-party rule.

Democrats in Oklahoma are hoping to run the same play.

Don't fall for it Oklahoma, the rest of the nation will join you in going conservative in 2010 and again in 2012. Oklahoma is ahead of the curve, but it took 100 years of Democrat stranglehold to bring about that "change".

Don't blow it now.

Q: How Can You Tell When Obama is Lying?

Thanks to Mike's America at Flopping Aces-

Obama's Press Conference: Lies and Blame Shifting
...
"12 questions in 55 minutes left plenty of time for President Obama to do what he does best: make a speech.
Yet this time, the teleprompter couldn’t paste the words up fast enough so the President did what he does second best: ramble incoherently in search of a thought.
Along the way he sprinkled in a good dose of disinformation and outright fabrications.

And if you think it’s just conservatives saying this, you would be wrong."

The Democrat(ic) Cutlure of Corruption: ACORN Payola

From Flopping Aces

Funding a permanent campaign organization with OUR tax dollars!

Imagine the hue and cry that would erupt if a Republican President and Congress used taxpayer funds to support a permanent campaign organization to elect more Republicans.

Well, that is exactly what Obama and the Dems have been doing with these massive spending bills. First it was the stimulus bill that didn’t create jobs for average Americans but was instead a big payoff to groups like ACORN. Then, there was the auto bailout deal with turned over the auto companies to the unions. That was another windfall worth billions.

Now, health care bills in both the House and the Senate mandate even more payola to ACORN!

Fleckman, the blogger made famous by twittering what he found in the bill House Dems are pushing for health care “reform” found these nuggets that relate directly to ACORN:

The Final Frontier... That Empty Space Between a Liberal's Ears

From Pajamas Media... Bill Whittle Presents:
"The Dowd Conundrum: Why Vulcans and Other Intellectuals Don't Belong in the Big Chair"
(video)

An outstanding and entertaining look at how liberals genuinely believe they are the smartest person in the room and why you should NEVER EVER ever want that person in charge.

Speech on Truman/Carter/Hillary/Obama-Care from 1961

Text of the above speech...

norman-thomas

"Now back in 1927 an American socialist, Norman Thomas, six times candidate for president on the Socialist Party ticket, said the American people would never vote for socialism. But he said under the name of liberalism the American people will adopt every fragment of the socialist program.

One of the traditional methods of imposing statism or socialism on a people has been by way of medicine. It’s very easy to disguise a medical program as a humanitarian project. Most people are a little reluctant to oppose anything that suggests medical care for people who possibly can’t afford it.

Now, the American people, if you put it to them about socialized medicine and gave them a chance to choose, would unhesitatingly vote against it. We had an example of this. Under the Truman administration it was proposed that we have a compulsory health insurance program for all people in the United States, and, of course, the American people unhesitatingly rejected this.

Let’s take a look at social security itself. Again, very few of us disagree with the original premise that there should be some form of savings that would keep destitution from following unemployment by reason of death, disability or old age. And to this end, social security was adopted, but it was never intended to supplant private savings, private insurance, pension programs of unions and industries.

Now in our country under our free enterprise system we have seen medicine reach the greatest heights that it has in any country in the world. Today, the relationship between patient and doctor in this country is something to be envied any place. The privacy, the care that is given to a person, the right to chose a doctor, the right to go from one doctor to the other.

But let’s also look from the other side, at the freedom the doctor loses. A doctor would be reluctant to say this. Well, like you, I am only a patient, so I can say it in his behalf. The doctor begins to lose freedoms; it’s like telling a lie, and one leads to another. First you decide that the doctor can have so many patients. They are equally divided among the various doctors by the government. But then the doctors aren’t equally divided geographically, so a doctor decides he wants to practice in one town and the government has to say to him you can’t live in that town, they already have enough doctors. You have to go some place else. And from here it is only a short step to dictating where he will go.

This is a freedom that I wonder whether any of us have the right to take from any human being. All of us can see what happens once you establish the precedent that the government can determine a man’s working place and his working methods, determine his employment. From here it is a short step to all the rest of socialism, to determining his pay and pretty soon your children won’t decide when they’re in school where they will go or what they will do for a living. They will wait for the government to tell them where they will go to work and what they will do.

What can we do about this? Well, you and I can do a great deal. We can write to our congressmen and our senators. We can say right now that we want no further encroachment on these individual liberties and freedoms. And at the moment, the key issue is, we do not want socialized medicine.

Former Representative Halleck of Indiana has said, “When the American people want something from Congress, regardless of its political complexion, if they make their wants known, Congress does what the people want.”

So write, and if your representative writes back to you and tells you that he or she too is for free enterprise, that we have these great services and so forth, that must be performed by government, don’t let them get away with it.

Show that you have not been convinced.

Write a letter right back and tell them that you believe ingovernment economy and fiscal responsibility; that you know governments don’t tax to get the money the need; governments will always find a need for the money they get and that you demand the continuation of our free enterprise system.

You and I can do this. The only way we can do it is by writing to our congressmen even we believe that he is on our side to begin with. Write to strengthen his hand. Give him the ability to stand before his colleagues in Congress and say “I have heard from my constituents and this is what they want.”

Write those letters now; call your friends and them to write them. If you don’t, this program I promise you, will pass just as surely as the sun will come up tomorrow, and behind it will come other federal programs that will invade every area of freedom as we have known it in this country."-1961- Ronald Wilson Reagan

Obvious Conflict of Interest From Palin Stalker/Investigator

Flopping Aces has the story...

"Well isn’t this interesting….and not surprising:

"Seems the AP forgot to tell us that Thomas Daiel, the investigator who thinks that outgoing Alaska Governor Sarah Palin may have violated state ethics law in raising money to defend herself against frivolous ethics charges, cut a rather generous check to Democrat Mark Begich’s Senate campaign last fall summer. According to Open Secrets, he contributed $1,000 to that Democrat, the same amount he gave to John Kerry in 2004. He gave $1,800 to the DNC (Democratic National Committee) and contributed to various Democratic campaigns, but not a dime to Republicans.

Don’t you think that might have some bearing on his ability to adjudicate an ethics issue involving a prominent Republican?"

Surprise, surprise, surprise !

Colorado Rockies On A Tear Under New Mgr Jim Tracy !

DENVER (AP)—When Jim Tracy replaced Clint Hurdle as Colorado’s manager, GM Dan O’Dowd said he wasn’t expecting miracles.

The Rockies were 10 games under .500 and threatening to become irrelevant before June even started.

Surprise!

The Rockies won 19 of their first 24 under their new skipper, including an incredible 17-1 streak that they extended Monday night with an 11-1 win at Anaheim.

The Rockies have set franchise records with nine straight road wins and 17 victories in June.

Tracy likes to deflect credit, but there’s no hiding that it took him half as many games to win 18 times as it took Hurdle, who was fired with the Rockies in last place in the NL West at 18-28.“I just asked them to play the game correctly. And I’ve asked them to play the game unselfishly, and I’ve asked them to get a little bit more aggressive offensively,” Tracy said. “And we’ve done an unbelievable job of that.”

“It’s nice to show up and go out and expect to win every day,” second baseman Clint Barmes(notes) said.

Tracy benched slumping third baseman Garrett Atkins(notes) and replaced him with emerging slugger Ian Stewart(notes). Tracy made Barmes his everyday second baseman and he carved out more at-bats for outfielder Carlos Gonzalez(notes), who came over from Oakland in the Matt Holliday(notes) trade that also netted closer Huston Street(notes).

“It’s a blast right now,” said Street, who converted 16 of his first 17 save chances. “Twenty days ago, not that it was no fun, but we’ve been waiting for this. We’ve been saying it, almost ad naseum, to where people were saying, “Uh-huh, you guys are almost there, sure.’ But we really felt that and believed it.”

The Rockies are playing sound fundamental baseball under Tracy.

They move runners over. They’re aggressive at the plate without expanding their strike zones. They’re driving opposing starters’ pitch counts high early in games. They’re fighting off good pitches and when they see a mistake, they make ‘em pay.’

Defensively, they’re not giving teams extra outs or extra pitches.

And with their starting pitchers going deep into games, their bullpen has finally settled into a good rhythm.

Leading Colorado’s resurgence is right fielder Brad Hawpe(notes) and right-hander Jason Marquis(notes) (9-4), who has reached the playoffs in all nine of his major league seasons and has no intention of seeing that streak snapped this summer.

A month ago, it looked like he’d have to get traded to keep that streak alive. Now, the Rockies could just as easily end up being buyers as sellers at the trade deadline next month.

Ryan Spilborghs(notes) said everything’s different since Tracy took over and the Rockies started winning.

“The food tastes better. The water tastes better. Your family looks nicer to you,” he said. “Everything about baseball on and off the field is a lot more enjoyable.”

“It’s not like there is a secret magic rabbit that we pull out,” Spilborghs said. “We have a group of good people and when you get them playing like they are capable of and not doing more than what they should, you tend to go on streaks like this.”

Obama's "Change" Meant "Less Safe"

Jimmy Carter's .... errr I mean Barack Obama's military cuts, which are the sacrificial lamb for his orgasmic spending spree and gazillion dollar healthcare takeover, has just made America less safe.
Mr President, what good does free healthcare, electric cars and the bliss of socialism do us if we are all dead?

The Airforce F-22 fighter is necessary to keep pace with Russia's current rapid development of new aircraft as well as China's buildup of new fighters...

The Heritage Foundation asks...
"So at what cost to our national security did Obama trade political momentum for his domestic initiatives?
Russia is expanding its fighter forces more than at any other time since the end of the Cold War. The Russians plan to field 300 Su-Fullback strike aircraft by 2022 and an additional 300 Sukhoi Pak fifth-generation fighters. Meanwhile, China has ordered an estimated 76 Su-30MKK Flanker-Gs and can produce an additional 250 under license, including at least 100 “knock-down kits” to be assembled in China. If China modernizes its 171 Su-27SK/UBs to the Su-27SKM standard and assembles another 105 Su-27SKMs under license, it will have roughly 626 multi-role fighters available for air superiority missions. This would place China in the same league as the U.S., which has 522 F-15A/B/C/Ds, 217 F-15Es, and a planned end strength of 186 F-22s."

Earlier this month, the Obama administration weakened our defenses on another front, agreeing to reduce the number of strategic launchers despite receiving no real concessions from the Russians on Missile Defense.

Had enough of Democrats' "hope and change" yet?

"You can join Governor Mitt Romney, Speaker Newt Gingrich, Republican Whip Eric Cantor, and Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison and send the President a message that weakness invites aggression, not peace. You can join the 55,000 other Americans who have signed the 4% for Freedom petition which calls on the President and Congress to protect America by: 1) restoring missile defense funding; 2) giving our troops the equipment they need to complete their missions; and 3) not including war funding, maintain a minimum defense budget of 4% of GDP.

The Right Kind of Change for 2010

Steve Long, former Oklahoma resident (once an Okie always an Okie in my book) and author of the blog "Otter Limits", has launched his official campaign for the US House of Representatives taking his common sense approach to politics from the state of Washington all the way to Washington DC.
Not your grandfather's Republican, Steve brings a fresh new voice to the party.

Sticking to his motto, "The Right Kind of Change", Steve has outlined his basic positions in his "opening statement". Below is part of that statement.

"...I assure you that if elected, I will work as hard as I can to return that once great institution back to its great foundations.

I assure you that if elected, I will truly work for the people. For a government of the people, by the people and for the people is truly the greatest type of government a nation can hope for. And it is time to return our own government back to that principle.

I assure you that if elected, I will support and vote for any legislation that promotes national term limits for Senators and Congressmen. And I further promise that if elected, I will serve no more than two terms.

I assure you that if elected, I will never, ever, vote to raise my own pay. There is no reason to vote yourself a pay raise when millions are out of work.

I assure you that if elected, I will work toward reforming the current tax system to a system that is more fair and efficient for everyone, not just the rich and not just the poor.

I assure you that if elected, I will never take money from an organization that opposes something that I strongly believe in just to pad my own bank account.

I assure you that if elected, I will protect your 2nd amendment right to own firearms.

So when it comes time to make a decision on who you want to represent you in Washington DC, I hope that you will decide on change. Real change. Right change. I hope that you will choose me as your next Representative.

Steve Long. "The Right Kind of Change."

I (red stater) encourage all Oklahomans, Coloradoans and anyone seeking to reverse the one-party system and return our country to traditional values and conservative ideals to contribute to Steve's campaign.
You can see below in my post on his opponent why it is so very important to support Steve Long in his effort to bring about "The Right Kind of Change" in Washington.

The "Emergent" Church

The subject of Emergence and the Emergent Church movement came up in the comments section of my post on Politics and God recently. There have been a number of new leftists Christian churches popping up on the scene, but the emergence movement is much more subversive and the agenda more hidden.

From The Pilgrim Platform:

"Emergence"
Fads have become the engines that drive culture in the 21st Century. Corporations chase fads in order to profit from them in various ways. Corporations also create fads as a means of marketing their products. The ideal marketing program is the establishment of a cult following such as Harley Davidson has done in the motorcycle world. To understand this phenomenon see GoingFaster.com, BusinessWeek.com and TheMotleyFool.com

The latest fad to hit the church scene is known as "The Emergent Church" (Emergent Church Vocabulary). So, what exactly is the emergent church? It's hard to tell because it is still emerging. Nonetheless, careful examination of the roots of "emergent theory" (The Concept Of Emergence) will reveal the driving spirit behind the fad.

The Emergent Church

As for church, "Emergent" is a name that is being used at the moment to describe the church's response to the current emerging culture, and the peculiar aggregation of believers being called up out of this culture to follow Jesus back into it.

Colorado Gov Bill Ritter (D) Awards Stimulus Money To Former Employer in No-Bid Contract

The Conservative Punk asks ...

"Remember when liberal Democrats used to get angry about no-bid contracts?
Guess the day of the liberal watch dog is over."
"Colorado Gov. Bill Ritter has awarded some of the state's first stimulus money to his former employer in a no-bid contract.

Ritter hired his former law firm, the Washington-based Hogan & Hartson, in a no-bid contract to review stimulus spending, The Denver Post reported Friday. It said the firm was paid $40,000 in stimulus money through June."

And speaking of corrupt Democrats... John Murtha is in double trouble this time, apparently steering defense money to no-bid contract companies and alleged kickbacks.

"When an Air Force command in north Florida sought new battlefield technologies, Rep. John P. Murtha (D-Pa.) steered millions in federal dollars its way to hire defense contractors.

The research effort at the Pensacola Air Force base fell apart, however, when investigators found evidence that it was used to improperly pay a series of companies linked to Murtha. A handful of defense firms were paid for work that was never done or not called for in the contracts. Some of the companies involved, based in Wyoming, Florida and Murtha's district in Pennsylvania, had hidden owners, prosecutors allege; one was secretly owned by the Air Force official who helped approve the payments.

As prosecutors reveal new details of their criminal probe into the $8 million earmark that Murtha arranged for the Air Force project, one familiar player is never mentioned by authorities. Several of the companies had hired the lobbying firm of the lawmaker's brother, Robert C. "Kit" Murtha." -full article at the Washington Post

Lifetime Country Club Member and RINO Ron Paul Calls Moose Hunting Palin a "Conventional Country Club Republican"

Libertarian posing as a Republican Ron Paul jumped on the attack Sarah Palin wagon in an interview with Politico this week saying Palin (pictured having a martini by the pool) and her supporters are the "more establishment, conventional Country-Club type of Republicans."

But as the Texans for Palin blog points out...

"Strange, we don't recall ever having been members of any country club, nor do any Palin supporters we know have such memberships. How out of touch with the people can Ron Paul be? In fact, most of the Palin backers we know are blue collar conservatives, not Rockerfeller elites. They are much more interested in the latest NASCAR standings than in who is atop the PGA leader board.

As for the Palins themselves, it's unlikely that they belong to any country club. Golf is not their game. Sarah is a runner, and Todd is into snowmobiles, not golf carts. And with all that hunting and fishing they do, it's doubful that they have either the time or inclination for the game of golf. Sarah and Todd both played basketball in their youth, and their kids are more familiar with the hockey stick than the nine iron. We have it on good authority that the Palin clan has been known to ski, however, Alaska being more of a place suited to the winter sports."

TFP
adds this...

"But, if you were to check the membership rolls of the Riverside Country Club in Lake Jackson Texas, I'll bet real money that you will find the names of Ron Paul and his wife Carol listed as lifetime members."

In fact, it's those very Country Club Republicans that are attacking Palin along with the liberal left.
Ron Paul needs to be worrying about his next big pork-barrel spending project to buy votes with and his 9-11 'truther' tinfoil hat theory instead of attacking an actual Republican.

Global Warming Agenda Exposed By EPA Whistleblower

From The Energy Tribune-

Global Warming's Missing Link: EPA Whistleblower Exposes Agenda's Fatal Flaw

"The Environmental Protection Agency is pushing the greatest regulatory intervention in US history, seeking to declare that carbon dioxide poses an “endangerment” under the Clean Air Act, threatening human health and the environment. To hear the EPA tell it, CO2 – which nonetheless remains indispensible to life on earth and without which plants die, more of which produces higher crop yields, etc. – will kill us all.

This proposal is a cornerstone of the Obama administration’s attempt to bring the energy sector of the economy under state control just as it seeks to do with health care, essentially ruining something in order to take it over in the name of cleaning up capitalism’s mess. It’s an old play, which the statists have run for decades, certain that every now and then it will break for a big gain. But an inconvenient EPA career professional just doing his job assessed the premise and informed his superiors, in the sole substantive report presented in the Agency’s internal deliberations, that upon scrutiny CO2 clearly does not drive temperatures or climate but oddly enough, the sun and oceans do. His boss told him to shut up, that nothing good could come to their office by injecting this analysis into the process, as the decision had been made."

One problem with that, of course, is that the decision is not allowed to be made before the process has run its course. That is the entire purpose of an internal debate which, internal documents now prove, was truncated and in fact illusory.

For his troubles, this physics graduate of Cal Tech and MIT PhD economist – which are why he had his job – was subjected to the ritual smear job as unqualified by the thugs running the global warming industry. The nicest thing said about him was “He’s not a climate scientist!” shrieked by legions of non-scientists nonetheless cocksure of their own wisdom, insight and informed judgment on the matter.

Left unmentioned were the scientific credentials of the EPA administrator, President Obama, and the 535 members of Congress who are tasked with deciding the issue. “He’s just an economist!” the non-scientists’ line continued, ignoring that whole physics-degree thing and that, ah, well, the UN’s “chief climate scientist” is “just an economist.” Again, as the whistleblower Dr. Alan Carlin learned, facts have little weight in this debate.

Still, one key truth that Carlin brought to the fore exposes how – assuming that sanity prevails in the Senate and Congress is unable to impose “cap-and-trade” energy rationing – his exposé will carry the day in court.

This is man-made warming theory’s missing link. The global warming industry and its political enablers have been getting away with an amazing stunt of backing out from the equation inconvenient things which your lying eyes might tell you. Amid the cries of “warming proceeding even faster than predicted” – an actual, common claim among alarmists, politicians and the media – observations reveal that the recent cooling has brought us to the average of the entire 30-year history of the satellite temperature record.

Climate changes and temperatures go up and down, that’s what they do, so it is surely an amusing coincidence of statistics to see no temperature change following a three-decade-long cooling spell that ended with the coldest decade of the century (the 1970s). To see this as “global warming” hysteria hijacks the policymaking process of a major economic power is staggering.

The crux of what Carlin revealed is that the alarmist campaign has, through indignant repetition and an absurdly flawed syllogism, substituted man-made greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions as a proxy for temperatures. The disfavored human activity somehow now equates with the weather, a bizarre apples-and-stethoscopes comparison."

The Money Quote-

"This was never about climate anyway but population, lifestyle, energy use and, above all else, control, so such obstacles were ignored and the industry moved right on to a metric even more convenient for them, GHG emissions. This is the tortured path bringing about the oddity of alarmists citing emissions going up faster than predicted as proving that global warming is proceeding faster than predicted, while temperatures are flat and even cooling. To date, it’s worked.

EPA’s “endangerment finding” is rife with this absurd non sequitor: CO2 concentrations are going up, Man’s CO2 is surely behind this, therefore man is causing climate change. In its “finding” the EPA, like the UN’s IPCC, fail to establish the missing link, that CO2 drives climate. Instead, EPA just points to the IPCC, which in turn simply proclaims the relationship, having itself also never having cited any authority establishing (rather than assuming) that CO2 drives temperature or climate, in the past or now."

Obama When Asked What's in His Healthcare Bill: "Duhhh I Dunno"

The Heritage Foundation

"Obama Admits He's "Not Familiar" With House Healthcare Bill"

"...Obama hosted a conference call with leftist bloggers urging them to pressure Congress to pass his health plan as soon as possible.

During the call, a blogger from Maine said he kept running into an Investors Business Daily article that claimed Section 102 of the House health legislation would outlaw private insurance. He asked: “Is this true? Will people be able to keep their insurance and will insurers be able to write new policies even though H.R. 3200 is passed?” President Obama replied: “You know, I have to say that I am not familiar with the provision you are talking about.” (quote begins at 17:10)

This is a truly disturbing admission by the President especially considering that later in the call, Obama promises yet again: “If you have health insurance, and you like it, and you have a doctor that you like, then you can keep it. Period.”

How can Obama keep making this promise if he is not familiar with the health legislation that is being written in Congress?

Details matter.

We (at the Heritage Foundation) are familiar with the passage IBD sites, and as we wrote last week, the House bill does not outright outlaw private individual health insurance, but it does effectively regulate it out of existence."
