Entitlement: The New Patriotism?

I was born in America (or I broke in illegally), either way... I am entitled to free healthcare and a job that pays exactly the same as my neighbors earn... not more-not less.
I am entitled to free energy to heat and cool my free home and I deserve transportation provided to get to and from my government mandated job where my boss makes the same as I do.

I was born an American (or snuck in) so I deserve to retire with the same income and style as everyone else no matter what I did for a living or how long I worked, I was born in America so the government is the answer to all my needs, wants, hopes and desires... success comes from the government not from within myself. The government is there to make life fair for me.

I was born an American (or know someone who was) so apparently I should get to purchase things that I cannot afford and expect the government to bail me out.
I am an American so I should not have to defend freedom, liberty and justice.... we have the government to do that for us.
I am an American and benefit from this, so therefore people from other countries should be able to come here freely without question or limits and benefit from our riches, use our schools, use our free hospitals, roads and services without having to pay taxes or become a citizen too.

I am an American (or from a country nearby) so I should do everything in my power to make America less like America and more like countries that have failed or are failing.
I am an American (ashamed of our past) so I should embrace socialism and denounce capitalism for the good of all. I should abandon all self interest completely and only concentrate helping others, for only by helping others can I help myself... according to our President himself.
I am an American so I am being forced to support things I know to be wrong like abortion and homosexual marriage... for the good of the many, we must sacrifice the unborn and abandon the traditional family unit that made this country strong and great.

Apparently, I should not dream of owning my own business because making a profit is evil, capitalism is evil and only causes greed and corruption because my success makes others poor.

Wait a minute... Say's Who?
I AM an American.... and I remember that "we the people" are the government... not the other way around.
I remember that millions have died so I can be free to make of my life whatever I desire.
Only the power of the individual and the family unit can keep this country strong.
I have learned that only after I succeed, can I help others.
I remember that only by limiting government growth can my (and your) freedoms be secure.
I have been to VA hospitals and seen government healthcare- it is the worst.
I have been to the drivers license and tag agency and have also seen government run transportation and it sucks.
I have seen what government does with our money... the waste, the corruption and the fraud and understand that I am best qualified to determine where I work, when I work and how much I earn.. and I am best suited to determine what I spend my hard-earned money on, not some fat-cat bureaucrat in Washington and certainly not a bunch of socialist liberals hell-bent on turning us all into mindless drones dependent on the government for everything.

Vote Republican in 2010 and 2012 and stop the zomby invasion of socialism.

Red, I'm with you on 98 percent of what you said, so right on, man!

Just a couple of quibbly little nit-picks, if you don't mind.

1) Don't short sell the free house, dammit! I want a mortgage I can't afford and I want the government to renegotiate the value of it downward to meet my non-existent income level. Ah, hell! Just sign the property over to me and tell the original owner to stuff it.

(Seriously ...)

2) When it comes time to vote, be careful of every politician, regardless of party. Just because they have an "R" after their name doesn't give them a pass. Vote only for the guy (or gal) who can quote the Constitution, understands that this is a Republic, not a democracy, and pledges before God that he or she will pledge their lives, fortunes and sacred honor to defending - or reclaiming - your individual liberties.
