Led Zeppelin One of the Best of ALL Time... (According to the Numbers)
A friend of mine recently said "Led Zeppelin sucks" and is one of the most "overrated" bands of all time. I'm not sure what his definition of "sucks" and "overrated" is, but I would guess that most of the bands he listens to can only wish they were as successful as Led Zeppelin and can only wish someone knew enough about them to say they were overrated.... or rated at all for that matter. Here are just some of the statistics of a band some call "overrated".

Led Zeppelin has 5 Albums listed on the top albums sold of all time. Led Zeppelin leads the way with the most albums. Atlantic Records reports that Led Zeppelin has sold over 200 million records worldwide. Led Zeppelin's biggest selling album is "Led Zeppelin IV". The Recording Industry Association of America lists Led Zeppelin as the third best selling musical act/artist in history behind the Beatles and Elvis.

Like I said over at Steve’s place, records sold does not necessarily equal good music. I see that Britney Spears and the Backstreet Boys are on this list. I’m just sayin’… :-P
As I've said before, I'm no Led-head but comparing Led Zeppelin to Britney Spears.... lol.

I hope you know I'm just having fun with Otter on this... I know he put that up to draw me in. I made a small comment a while back to him about Zeppelin when he said he hated them in the comments section of another post... about 2 or 3 days later that "Overrated" post of his popped up.
I really couldn't care much less about Led Zeppelin. They are in my middle of the pack as far as personal favorites.

But listen... I think your description of Led Zeppelin is still wrong as far as "overrated" I mean they seem to have more than lived up to people's expectations. You might even give them credit for over-achieving if you really think they have no talent.
It was fun debating music with ya though... kinda like debating good art vs bad art.

when i say the band is over-rated though, i am basically just saying that i (IMHO) do not think the band is as good as many other people say they are. i am just not impressed with them.
Zep is actually one of those bands that if i am listening to the radio and they come on, i change the station.
When my wife sees one of those videos of Zep from the 70's and Plant is dancing around in one of those midi-shirts tied in front and hip-hugger pants... she say's he looks sooooooo gay.
Not that there's anything wrong with that...
right. as long as he does not try to push his lifestyle on you of course. *wink*
As I have done in the past, I would respectfully decline... not that there is anything wrong with that.
Led Zeppelin is the best rock and roll band of all time.
