Obama's Doctor Opposes Obama-care

David Scheiner, an internist based in the Chicago neighborhood of Hyde Park, has a diverse practice of lower-income adults from the nearby housing projects mixed with famous patients like U.S. Sen. Carol Mosely Braun, the late writer Studs Terkel and, most notably, President Barack Obama.

"I'm not sure he (Obama) really understands what we face in primary care" .

"I have a suspicion they pick people from the top echelon of medicine, people who write about it but haven't been struggling in it".

Scheiner says he never thought it was appropriate to talk about health policy with Obama, especially once he became a U.S. Senator. The one exception was medical malpractice reform. "I once briefly talked to him about malpractice, and he took the lawyers' position," he says.

What should the president be focused on according to Obama's doctor?
Scheiner thinks that a good health reform would be "Medicare for all," a single-payer system where the government would cover everyone and pay for it by cutting out waste in the system. "A neurosurgeon gets paid $20,000 for cutting into the neck of my patient. Have him get paid $1 million a year instead of $2 million or $3 million. He won't starve," Scheiner says.

John Stossel makes a lot of sense most of the time, Biden knew full well the stimulus wasn't a stimulus from the get-go.

That's an easy one Otter... in a word, NO... I am "pro-choice" regarding my doctor and my insurance and my health... I prefer Obama and company stay out of the doctoring Biz... and no I won't be asking for an abortion and using my "health" as an excuse to kill someone else either. (That's not a choice, that's homicide as we know.)

Sorry to confuse you though... I just put up the post and included WHY Obama's doc opposes Obamacare... he doesn't think it's socialist ENOUGH!

Some would argue that fact happened long, long ago.

Hey man, can you believe so many Iranians are still standing up to the Mullahs?

As I've said in about a half dozen posts on the Iran situation in the past week... it's too bad there isn't a leader out there speaking for the free world on this.
When France and Germany are defending freedom more than America... somethin' ain't right.

I guess Obama's too busy getting his own agenda rammed through to take time to worry about Iran's.

i don't find it all that amazing that the Iranians are fighting back against the Muslim clerics. I was reading something the other day about how Christianity is growing pretty rapidly in that country despite government efforts to bring it down.

i even read something about a group of people trying to bring the "shah" back.

I do find it amazing considering the consequences for their actions, their upbringing and their obedience to their religious leaders who also happen to be the government.

Remember they aren't in the US where we take it for granted that we have the right to free speech and the right to challenge our government, protest, blog, criticize and the right to criticize our religious beliefs or lack thereof openly as well... they have not experienced this and have been taught that it would be wrong to experience that freedom.

At a time when even our own President isn't completely sold on the idea of freedom, liberty and the power of free enterprise, people on the other side of the planet who have lived under a fascist regime are trying to rise up against oppression... and perhaps control their own destiny when they have been taught for generations that controlling your own destiny is evil, that freedom and capitalism is evil... I dunno man, that sounds pretty amazing to me.

It's too bad they aren't getting any encouragement or support from (former Muslim and) the leader of the free world.
