Lawsuit Over Obama's Nonexistent Birth Certificate Getting Traction

UPDATE on the Army reservist who is suing President Obama for refusing to produce proof of his birth place as required by US law.

A Retired General and a Lieutenant Colonel Join the Army Reservist's Lawsuit Over Obama's Birth Status

"A controversial suit brought by a U.S. Army reservist has been joined by a retired Army two-star general and an active reserve Air Force lieutenant colonel.

Maj. Stefan Frederick Cook filed the suit July 8 in federal court here asking for conscientious objector status and a preliminary injunction based upon his belief that President Barack Obama is not a natural-born citizen of the United States and is therefore ineligible to serve as president of the United States and commander-in-chief of the U.S. Armed Forces."

FULL STORY

So... I wonder if the JMBzine lawyer is on the job helping this Army reservist or does he only help military personnel that hated Bush and protested the Iraq war?

I have to admit that I didn't bother to keep up with the details of the whole birth-certificate thing when people started talking about it. I just took it for granted (silly me!) that you would have to prove such things when you filed for office. But then, about a month or so ago, legislation was filed in Congress to make it mandatory that in the future indisputable proof of one's native-born status be filed at some point before being sworn in or nominated or something. Then I said, "What! You mean it wasn't required before?"

The last thing I saw about this particular case was that the military had revoked this particular soldier's orders without comment. The soldier's attorney took this to be an admission from the brass that they didn't actually have the documents necessary to prove their case.

I don't know how it will all turn out. Personally, I think that even if hard evidence of Obama's native-born status doesn't actually exist, the stonewalling will be successful and nothing much will ever come of this. We'll be looking at defeating him in '12, and the really big problem will be "with whom?" For the reality is that there's no one on the Republican stage, with the possible (and only possible) exceptions of Sarah Palin and Mike Huckabee who looks even remotely viable.

I'd hate to go into '12 with our campaign slogan being, "Vote for So-and-So--He ain't much, but he's gotta be better than Obama." But I'm afraid that's what we're looking at.
