University of Colorado Student Stumps Obama on Private Option

A political science/business student from the University of Colorado in Boulder (of all places) Zach Lahn asked President Obama the one question about Obama-care that the President cannot/will not answer directly. Great job Zach!

Zach's question: "We all know the best way to reduce prices in this economy is to increase competition. How in the world can a private corporation [that is] providing insurance compete with an entity that does not have to worry about making a profit, does not have to pay local property taxes...they are not subject to local regulations...how can a company compete with that?"

Be specific, no generalities or philosophical answers please...

Obama- "I just want to point out that I partially answered the question earlier ...it is true that there are certain costs associated with a private business that a government would not have to worry about..." a private entity would be undermined if a government entity is able to get money cheaper" ...this is actually a legitimate debate... I think we can craft a system... there are way's we can address those public issues... but the only point I want to make is that the notion that just by having a public option you have the entire private market place destroyed... I mean UPS and Fed-X are doing just fine against the post office... it's good to have a young person challenging the President to an Oxford style debate, debate is good, I like that, you gotta have hustba ... this is a good debate to have.... the public option whether we have it or not is ....this is just one sliver of it, the right and the left are so fixed on, but I believe we can work them out.... where guys like Nathan are not completely broke from trying to fix his son, you have a bunch of countries with a system where the government is involved with a thriving private insurance market .... nobody is talking about a government takeover of healthcare... I just want to make that point one more time... alright, next question...

lol... when was the last time you tried to mail a letter standard class via ups?

UPS and Fed-x among others don't deal in regular mail... so apparently the President is suggesting we go to the government doctors for our daily regular checkups and allergies and colds... but go to the pro's from Dover when we need something done fast with better quality and service.

What a joke this administration is... Obama-care is Hillary-care is rationed socialized medicine.
End of story.

I like how he basically said that is a good question to the young man without actually answering his question. His repeating his is something we should have debate on does not answer the question.

you can mail a letter for what is it .42cents now?

No private company can compete with the USPS because the federal government loses money on each and every letter.

Obama's analogy is a bad one if anyone takes the time to think about it.

And the post office is "the one with all of the problems."

This is how Obama tries to sell his government-run public option health care plan.

Not the brightest crayon in the box.
