Ready Class?

What began a few posts below as merely a rebuttal to an "award winning" local blogger ended up as exposing yet another college professor (and Daily Kos contributor) indoctrinating students with their leftist political agenda. (example below from the online coursework on blogging at the University of Central Oklahoma)-
"The United States’ current neoconservative political predicament has left millions of marginalized Americans without cultural voices..."

Oh really? ....and this is just on the "Welcome" page. He is quoting himself from here. There is plenty more where that came from I assure you.
Like What you ask?
Like discounting what he considers to be conservative newspapers as "bad journalism" and not to be considered in academic circles (or serious debate) while singing the praises of the NY Times the Daily Kos, Andrew Rice (D) (see "runandrewrun" banner on the UCO course material blog linked above) who is running against Senator Jim Inhofe(R) to students in his online blogging classes. He accuses Inhofe of being a shill when he is nothing more than a shill for the Democrat party himself.... while teaching school of course. Inhofe gave up his day job when he got on the government payroll.
And more you say? Notice here that the ONLY 3 blogs listed as "Featured Blogs" are 1- Okie Funk, 2- Blue Oklahoma and best of all 3- Democrat Senate candidate Andrew Rice. Supporting a political candidate in course material and a University website a problem for anyone?
So, I decided to sum-up this whole Okie Funk, Dr. Kurt Hochenauer, Daily Kos, ...Dr. Rodger A Payne, Ward Churchill etc. etc. etc...."thing" like this...in terms liberals might grasp.

Attention liberals: This exercise might be a traumatizing experience for the fragile liberal mind, but I assure you this is only pretend....i.e make-believe. Please utilize your alleged "superior liberal brainpower" to imagine (apply the willing suspension of disbelief) for a minute ...that there was suddenly...

5 or 10 Ann Coulters,

5-10 Rush Limbaughs and...

5-10 Michelle Malkins ...teaching at virtually every college, University and high-school in America and there were ZERO Kurt Hochenauers, ZERO Rodger A. Paynes and ZERO Ward Churchills.
Alright class, ...can you feel it?
How loudly would you be screaming "FOUL" and demanding their immediate dismissal under that scenario?

Hey, ...I've got an idea, how about if college professors leave their personal politics.... you know..."personal", ...and simply "Shut-up and Teach" what they are paid with our tax dollars to teach? Stop financing your own political agenda with my tax dollars.

Or else, simply get out of the education business (get off of government payroll) and commit to the political pundit business (which is what you really are), get a radio talk show (evil corporate sponsors) and go on the lecture tour for fees (evil capitalism) .

Class dismissed, have a nice day.

Now come on...you can not expect liberals to put both oars in the water...they might drigt to the right!

Move along, nothing happening here.

This is one college grad who won't be returning to Oklahoma. No complaints about the education, but the entire environment is repressive to progress. And as one who tried my hand at journalism for awhile, the "professor" is right about the Jokelahoman. In the mid-90s when I worked for the Enid News & Eagle and Guthrie Newsleader (no bastions of liberalism) the Jokelahoman was viewed as the worst product in Oklahoma (Maybe second behind chil abuse and child murders). If I recall correctly, they also won first place nationally for their poor journalism seven years running.

Thanks for your comments anon..
No Jobs=No college grads... not the other way around as some would claim.

The Oklahoman was considered the worst newspaper in america by democrats and former demcorats who suddenly turned into journalists as documented on Doc's UCO webpage... shocking!
Any media other than liberal media is "bad journalism" according to the liberal media that is.

One of the points I made was that the good professor ONLY referred to liberal media as credible in his online classroom material... thereby teaching students that only liberal media sources are to be trusted.

No, the Jokelahoman loses in every category, from layout and design to story content (local vs AP). It has nada to do with politics.

It doesn't matter your personal opinion on layout or style... it is still the major newspaper in the state (certainly in OKC) and as such (like it or not) it should get the same attention (and credibility) as the NY Times or LA times for instance... at least here in Oklahoma... and AT LEAST when you are a teacher in Oklahoma.

It's wrong for a teacher to use ONLY Democrat sources to discredit what he considers to be a conservative newspaper without using Republican sources to grade the NY Times or other papers used.

I could care less whether the local paper is good or bad... in my view they are all pretty bad.

What is worse is a political pundit posing as a college professor claims to have an exclusive on truth in journalism... like Dr Kurt for instance.

This was a good post Red. You made your point without name calling. I'm proud of you.

As far as The Oklahoman is concerned, it had a bad reputation when I moved here in 1992. At the time it was commonly referred to as The Daily Disappointment. My father, who was a major support of Reagan, used to complain constantly about how bad the paper was. It seems to have gotten better in the last 15 years but I'm not sure how much.

Coming from a nominee for "Best Okie Political Blog" for 2007 That means a lot to me dave, thank you very much...
(vote HERE

Since BOTH Democrats AND Republicans claim the Oklahoman is biased (against them)... that makes it a bad newspaper? (lol) Just the opposite could be said.

It would explain why most people "say" it is a bad newspaper...but answer me this... If you move to Oklahoma and EVERYONE tells you NOT to read the Daily Oklahoman (it's bad medicine), WHY then would you ever subscribe to the paper?

If you don't read the paper on a regular basis, then WHAT exactly are you forming your opinion ABOUT the paper...on?
I say that most people who claim it is a bad paper have never read the thing on a regular basis.

Using the "well ...MYYYYYY dad" (lol)...
(87yrs and going for 100+) voted Reagan was a registered Democrat until the 1990's... switched to Republican... says the Oklahoman has ALWAYS been primarily a lefty paper... and he reads it cover to cover ...every single day ...for the past ...ohhhh 50 years or so.
So THERE, take that! (lol)

Seriously though, I do know that every single newspaper is skewed. Every single journalist has a lens that they see, view and write based on... we all do.
Every newspaper is biased, always have been, always will be. (one way or the other and/or sometimes...both as in "fair and balanced")

So, if you discount one for that reason... they all gotta go.
Most (not all) Liberals only want us ALL to discount anything/anyone they view as anti-liberal.

Hey Redstater.

This website is not a part of a course. You should do some better research or maybe just READ a little. It is a free country and citizens can have websites where they express their opinions...even if they are full of hate, ignorance, and frustration like yours.

Oh and if you knew ANYTHING about journalism you would know that The Oklahoman is a JOKE to the entire journalism field. Just because it is the state's largest newspaper doesn't mean it should be respected.

Sorry anon (what are you afraid of? lol) but YOU need to click on the little linky things that I posted which will take you directly to greensunshine.org and others which are used by Dochoc and students in his UCO blogging courses and literature courses as course material. Okie Funk is his personal blog even though it is the ONLY blog (aside from blog Blue Oklahoma) referenced as good examples of blogging. (lol)

I don't care what moonbats like you think of any newspaper... they are ALL biased anon, if YOU knew anything about journalism...

Because it is the largest newspaper in the state, it must be at least considered as a legitimate source in colleges in the state considering the alternative is the NY Times or Okie Funk.

nice try,... but not so much.

Don't you think it's a little odd for good 'ole Ann to be wearing such a short skirt in an elementray school? Geesh.

Hey cheesemo, figures that is what you would comment on... not the post itself. But hey, it worked... sold you.

Im pretty sure it is no shorter than many teachers wear... and I'll bet that even the women teachers wear 'em that short too.

Since you're obviously all about protecting the children, I'm sure your against giving them birth control in middle school...no?

Or letting Planned unParenthood fill their little hormone engorged minds with visions of abortions being just another form of contraception... yes?

Thanks for stopping by, digging into the archives and checking out Ann's attire.
