We’d like to nominate and suggest Congressman Duncan Hunter of California as the new chairman of the Republican National Committee (RNC). If his name sounds familiar, that’s because he was a presidential candidate in 2008. Without a big name like Guiliani, a big wallet like Romney, a big TV show like Fred Thompson, or a big press following like McCain, Duncan Hunter did not get much attention. Because the media sent him to the back seat, he also did not raise enough money to keep his campaign going. This is the man we should have nominated and the man who could have beaten Barack Obama. He would have offered a clear alternative to Obama, unlike McCain who agreed with the democrat socialist on most issues.

Duncan Hunter is a conservative American. He offers strong support for our military. He understands capitalism and was against this huge ridiculous bailout bill from the get go. Hunter was right on that. Spending $700-billion to prevent capitalist private industry from failing, only ensures the failure of capitalism. That failure is a goal of Barack Obama’s. He says in his own book how he purposely sought out Marxist friends. The democrat socialist party would love nothing more than for capitalism to fail so the government can take over industry and control even more of your life. Presently, they are planning to take over GM, Ford and Chrysler with another gigantic bailout that also is wrong for our nation.

Duncan Hunter is pro life, wants smaller government and lower taxes. His voice needs to be magnified. The media needs to give this guy time and pay attention to him. Even Congressman Paul Ryan, who had his name mentioned as a possible minority party leader in congress, voted FOR the bailout. It has been our position all along at ConservativeAmerican.org that the bailout is wrong and any candidate who was either a democrat, or a republican who voted for the bailout should be voted out of office for this historic blunder.

Army Honors John Warner & Duncan Hunter

ARLINGTON, Va. (Army News Service, Sept. 25, 2008) -- Secretary of the Army Pete Geren hosted an Armed Forces retirement ceremony Wednesday afternoon for former chairmen of both the Senate and House Armed Services Committees, Sen. John Warner of Virginia and Congressman Duncan Hunter of California. The two men worked together on many defense bills, officials said, that contributed to strengthening America's armed forces into what they are today. Ceremonial units from the Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force and Coast Guard were present, along with the U.S. Army Band "Pershing's Own," who performed a brief pre-ceremony concert. With the downtown Washington D.C. skyline behind them and a billowing American flag above them, the joint services color guard slowly marched onto the field just prior to the arrival of the official party. Geren started off the ceremony by speaking volumes about what both men had accomplished in their years of service. Between their military time and their legislative careers, their combined years of service was over three quarters of a century, Geren said. "These leaders have served our nation over many decades, in and out of uniform, in times of war and times of peace," he said. "It is a privilege and a pleasure to honor them today, and to celebrate the partnership between our military and our congress, a partnership that has served our nation well."Hunter served in the Army beginning in 1969, and served in Vietnam with the Army Rangers' 75th Regiment. He participated in 24 helicopter assaults, and was awarded the bronze star among other achievements. Hunter has been in the House of Representatives since 1980, when he defeated an 18-year incumbent. He served as Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee from 2003-2007. Warner served in both the Navy and the Marines, enlisting in the Navy at 17. After his Naval service was complete, he attended college at Washington and Lee University. After graduation, he began to study law at the University of Virginia. When the Korean War began in 1950, Warner took a hiatus from his law studies to serve as an officer in the Marine Corps, where he eventually reached the rank of Captain. Marine Corps Gen. James Cartwright, vice chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, spoke after Geren, and he too extolled the virtues of the two men. "Both men carried [their military service] not as challenges, but as opportunities," he said. "Opportunities to make a difference, to define service and to define quality of service in a way that marks them forever."In their responses, both men began with a tribute to each other, saying that they made it possible together what they were able to accomplish. Warner concluded his remarks by saying that his military experiences were what gave him the ability to serve as long as he had, and he is grateful for that. "I stand here, filled with honor and a great sense of humility, only because of what I learned by way of training and discipline," he said. The ceremony concluded with a joint service medley played by Pershing's Own, but more than their music, the closing words of Geren were what attendees took away. "Senator Warner and Congressman Hunter will be missed by all who had the privilege to serve with them, and every Soldier Sailor, Marine and Airmen who may serve," he said. SAN DIEGO—A California congressional delegation asked President Bush on Friday to posthumously award the Medal of Honor to a Marine who was chosen to receive only the second-highest medal the Navy can bestow for valor.
The delegation, spearheaded by Rep. Duncan Hunter, sent a letter asking for a review of the case of Sgt. Rafael Peralta, who witnesses say covered a grenade with his body to save comrades on Nov. 15, 2004, during fighting in Fallujah, Iraq. Already wounded by gunfire, he died immediately.
A copy of the letter given to The Associated Press was signed by a bipartisan group of five other representatives and Sens. Dianne Feinstein and Barbara Boxer. It urges Bush to award the nation's highest honor, the same medal he gave to Marine Cpl. Jason L. Dunham, who was killed in 2004 after covering a grenade with his helmet.
"Intentionally absorbing a grenade blast to protect one's comrades in arms has been traditionally recognized by awarding the Medal of Honor. The sacrifice of Sergeant Peralta manifests the same devotion to one's comrade's and country as that displayed by Jason Dunham," the letter said.
The White House had no immediate comment Friday.
The bipartisan delegation formed after Peralta's mother said publicly this week that she was told her son would be awarded the Navy Cross, rather than the Medal of Honor, because the nomination was tainted by reports he was accidentally shot by a fellow Marine shortly before an
insurgent lobbed the grenade.
"It's difficult as a mother to lose your son, but it's good that people are remembering him. He was a person who gave everything and took nothing," Rosa Peralta said after the AP informed her of the congressional effort.
"I'm very pleased to hear this news; we wanted justice," she said.
Bush singled out the Marine's actions in a 2005 Memorial Day speech, saying Peralta "understood that America faces dangerous enemies, and he knew the sacrifices required to defeat them."
The question of whether to award Peralta the Medal of Honor centers on whether the mortally wounded Marine, who had been shot in the head and upper body during a house-to-house search, could have intentionally reached for the grenade and covered it with his body.
The initial recommendation that he receive the Medal of Honor went through reviews by the Marine Corps, U.S. Central Command, the Department of the Navy and, ultimately, Defense Secretary Robert Gates.
After all the evidence was scrutinized, officials determined the nomination did not meet the standard necessary to support the Medal of Honor, said Capt. Beci Brenton, spokeswoman for Navy Secretary Donald Winter.
Defense Department officials have said that because there was some contradictory evidence, Gates took the extra step of asking for a review by a panel consisting of a former commander of U.S. forces in Iraq, a Medal of Honor recipient, a civilian neurosurgeon who is retired from the military and two forensic pathologists who also are military retirees.
The panel recommended against the Medal of Honor, and Gates made the decision this month, officials said.
Peralta, 25, was assigned to Hawaii's 1st Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment. He had moved to San Diego from Tijuana as a teenager.

Hunter Keeps Pressure On Romney's China Syndrome

At a press conference held at the South Carolina State Capitol today, Presidential candidate and U.S. Congressman Duncan Hunter (R-CA) again called on Bain Capital, a company founded by former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney, to drop its strategic partnership with Chinese defense contractor Huawei Technologies in a bid to buy U.S. defense contractor 3Com.
Hunter also called on Romney to use his continued influence with Bain to terminate the proposed merger between Huawei and 3Com, which, according to a report in today's Washington Times, would threaten U.S. national security.

"As the founder of Bain Capital, Governor Romney has an obligation to utilize his influence within the company to terminate the proposed merger between 3Com and Chinese defense contractor Huawei," said Hunter. "In light of China 's refusal to port several American naval vessels last week, it is increasingly more important that American military technology be protected from foreign companies, such as Huawei, that are closely aligned with the Chinese government."

The Washington Times reported today that U.S. intelligence agencies informed the CFIUS review committee, responsible for examining proposed foreign investment transactions, that a merger between 3Com and Huawei would threaten America 's national security. 3Com presently performs vital cyber-security work for the Department of Defense.

"This proposed deal, which Governor Romney can work to terminate should he choose to do so, is unpatriotic and damaging to national security," continued Hunter. As further detailed in a resolution introduced in the House of Representatives, Huawei has close ties to the military of Communist China and allegedly aided Saddam Hussein and the Taliban.

Earlier this month, Hunter sent a letter to Governor Romney requesting that he use his influence as the founder of Bain to terminate the company's partnership with Huawei, including the proposed merger with 3Com. Hunter, who is ranking Republican on the House Armed Services Committee, has not received a response to the letter.

"We The People..."

Earlier this year, the masses of this great country rose up and took a stand against a detestable amnesty bill that was heading to Congress. The PEOPLE of this country, by their patriotism and passion, helped change the direction of this country. It stands as a testament to what we can do as a people when we stand up for what we believe in.

There are many great challenges facing our country. As I write this, I am remembering the 1/3 of my generation that has been murdered thanks to Roe vs. Wade. I am reminded of our out of control trade deficit. I am reminded of the toll illegal immigration is taking on our economy, and the hundreds of human beings who are sold into slavery over the American/Mexican border. I am reminded of an out of a Congress that is out of control in spending, with more and more of our freedoms being threatened. As the 2008 election comes around, we are at a place where we either do or die. Do we stand up for what we believe in? Or do we allow appeasement to rule once again, leading us further towards despair and defeat?

At the time of this writing, the National Right to Life has endorsed a candidate that has openly expressed his opposition to a Constitutional ban on abortion. Pat Robertson has endorsed the most socially liberal Republican candidate. The Homeschool Legal Defense Association has endorsed a candidate that supported anti-homeschool legislation in Arkansas and supports the big public education platform of the National Education Association. Bob Jones has endorsed a candidate that has flip-flopped on every important issue. Although there are many respectable qualities about these organizations and individuals, they are unfortunately holding up Republican candidates that will either lose because of their lack of conservative credentials (placing Hilary Clinton in the White House), or who will falter on upholding conservative principles if elected.

We the people have decided to stand up again.

We the people have decided to make our voice heard.

We the people will not bow to a small elite who thinks they can run our country better than we can ourselves.

We the people are standing up for a candidate who has proven his commitment to the important issues of our time including abortion, border security, American jobs, keeping our country safe from bad trade deals, national security, and leaving behind a country more independent of its government.

Diplomats Now Scrambling For Iraq Jobs

He doesn't need 14 committees and 23 focus groups to do it either.





Example:
Remember a couple of weeks ago when the US Diplomats were refusing to go on assignments and serve in Iraq?
Duncan Hunter knew of qualified men who would be proud to fill that role and continue serving their country in the process and suggested that we FIRE all of the Diplomats that refused to serve.

Well surprise surprise surprise, now we have a story reporting that nearly half of the open positions have been suddenly accepted by the current 'refusing' Diplomats and the rest are expected to be filled shortly... (or else).

Foreign Service officers by late last week had volunteered for about half of the 48 Iraq posts that need to be filled next year, according to State Department sources, prompting speculation the department may not need to resort to the directed assignments it threatened.

About 200 mid- to upper-level officers were notified last month that they could be called to serve one-year deployments in Iraq if they don’t volunteer. The department said it needs to find 48 volunteers by Nov. 13 or it will issue directed assignments to fill the vacancies.

A department spokeswoman said State will announce this week how many volunteers it has and whether directed assignments will be necessary.

Some officers have said they would quit or retire rather than accept a directed assignment to a post in Iraq. Only officers with serious medical conditions or who lack the proper clearance can be excused — others who refuse to go could be fired.

Some lawmakers were adamant that State should continue to operate on a volunteer basis, no matter what the cost. Rep. Christopher Smith, R-N.J., a top minority member on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, said Congress should increase cash incentives to officers to keep it that way.

“If additional incentives are needed, maybe that’s what we need to consider,” he said. “I don’t think we should put people in the position of going or retiring. I think volunteering with perhaps some significant incentives would work.”

Currently, Foreign Services officers deployed to Iraq receive danger and hardship pay totaling 70 percent of their basic salary. Many also earn additional pay for working long days and weekends.

Rep. Duncan Hunter, R-Calif., ranking member on the House Armed Services Committee, said he has little sympathy for Foreign Service officers who are resisting the call to serve in Iraq. Reluctant State employees should be replaced with wounded warriors recovering at Walter Reed and Bethesda medical centers, he said.

“When the State Department appears to be filled with reluctant personnel, let’s turn to those who have bravely followed the American flag in the most dangerous of assignments,” Hunter said.

“They are veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan theaters and you can be sure that when called on for difficult assignments, they won’t convene a town meeting to protest. Especially for those whose mobility has been impaired by wounds, State Department positions — not only in Baghdad but around the world — will provide excellent jobs as well as avail our nation of their enormous talent.”

Interesting that there is no mention by DOOLITTLE that Duncan Hunter is a Republican Presidential candidate, you can bet if Hillary had come up with this plan, the word "Presidential" would have been applied frequently and liberally.

Of course those on the left called Hunter an idiot for his ultimately effective and clever recommendation.
