Now is the Time for a 'True Leader' to Reach Out to Iranian People

The less than shocking "landslide victory" for Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in Iran, the protests in the streets that followed and the reaction of the Iranian government to those protests will rapidly provide us with a clear picture of what kind of "leader" Barack Hussein Obama really is providing he is a leader at all.

Now is the time for a true leader of the free world to step up to the plate and tell the Iranian people that the United States that beacon of liberty and justice and yes "hope" is with them... and mean it.

If we truly stand for free and fair elections over dictatorships then we MUST stand with the Iranian people in their hour of need.

TEHRAN (Reuters) - Thousands of protesters clashed with police after President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad won an election which his reformist challenger called a "dangerous charade."

The protests were a rare direct challenge to Iranian authorities. The result and its violent aftermath raised fresh questions about the direction of Iranian policies at a time when U.S. President Barack Obama wants to improve relations with Iran.

UPDATE- 1 (Fox News) "The dominant view among Obama administration officials is that the regime will look so bad as a result of whipping up Iranian hopes for democracy and then squelching them that the regime may feel compelled to show some conciliatory response to Obama’s gestures of engagement."

So Obama's big concern (so far) is how this is going to affect Him and His interests and how this will make Him look... the Iranian people and the United States future are the least of His concerns... so far.

UPDATE- 2 Riots erupt in Tehran

Reporting from Tehran -- "Huge swaths of the capital erupted in fiery riots that stretched into the early morning Sunday as Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad declared victory in his quest for a second four-year term amid allegations of widespread fraud and a strident challenge of the vote results by his main challenger, who was reportedly placed under house arrest."

Ahmadinejad: Iran will support Hamas until collapse of Israel

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad vowed Friday to keep supporting the Palestinian militant group Hamas until the "collapse of Israel."

The Iranian news agency Khabar quoted Ahmadinejad as telling Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh that Iran views the support of the Palestinian people as part of its religious and national duty and that Iran will stand behind the Palestinian nation "until the big victory feast which is the collapse of the Zionist regime."

In a phone conversation between the two leaders, the Iranian president said that the continued Hamas resistance against Israel and the group's achievements would always be "a source of pride for all Muslims."
Iran does not acknowledge the sovereignty of Israel and vowed to support Hamas until what Ahmadinejad calls "deliverance from Zionists (Israel)."

Haniyeh, the leader of the Islamist Hamas movement in the Gaza Strip, was elected Palestinian prime minister in 2006, but was dismissed in June 2007 by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, after Hamas violently seized control over the Gaza Strip from Abbas' Palestinian Authority.

Who Agreed to That?

Two leaders met this weekend who said they were ready to spend billions of dollars (euros) financing projects in other countries to help thwart US domination.
(This new agreement) “... will permit us to underpin investments ... Above all in those countries whose governments are making efforts to liberate themselves from the (US) imperialist yoke,” said ??????.
“This fund, my brother,” (??????) said referring to (????????), “Will become a mechanism for liberation.” “Death to US imperialism!” he said.
President (????????) called it a “very important” decision that would help promote “Joint cooperation in third countries,” especially in Latin American and African countries.

What type of "projects" are they already financing?
"...bankrolling militant groups in the Middle East like Hamas and the Islamic Jihad, as well as insurgents in Iraq,..."
