FOCA is FUBAR, Otter is Courageous

I gotta hand it to Steve at Otter Limits and also to Dave at Oklahoma Lefty for his comments.
It's not easy for a 'progressive' guy to take a stand against abortion on any level. There are consequences and there is anger and there is hate waiting for any man who dares to do so.

Daring to question the sacred right to babykilling is itself a capital offense in some circles...
This took guts. We need more men with guts like Steve and Dave.

Here is "What the Heck is FOCA" pt 1 and FOCA pt 2 from Otter Limits.

THIS is What Congress Should Be Considering

Instead of expanding death via prenatal homicide (abortion) and calling it a choice, we should be considering life and the rights of the unborn.

The Right to Life Act would legally define "personhood" as the moment of conception and, therefore, guarantee all constitutional rights and protections, including life, to the unborn without utilizing a constitutional amendment.

Instead of overturning Roe v Wade, which would only send the decision on abortion back to each individual state to decide, The Right to Life Act addresses "personhood" which is the basis for our individual rights in the Constitution. The Constitution does not define specifically when a person is a person since women weren't killing their unborn babies by the millions per year in 1776 America.

The Right to Life Act would once and for all put abortion where it should be and grant the right to live to those most innocent living among us. This would force congress to legislate the provisions under which abortions would be allowed such as in cases where the mother's life (not mental health) is at risk, rape and incest.

When we can no longer turn our heads and ignore the slaughter of innocent unborn Americans for the sake of convenience and selfishness at a time when contraception is free or very low cost and easily obtained by anyone at anytime and lack of education is no excuse, when we can no longer pretend it isn't murder, no longer pretend it isn't homicide and no longer accept ignorance, laziness and selfishness as excuses for murder... then and only then can we say our society has grown, evolved and become humane.

"I firmly believe that life begins at conception and that the preborn child deserves all the rights and protections afforded an American citizen." - Duncan Hunter, original sponsor of the Right to Life Act, 2005 and Republican presidential candidate of the future.

Many Catholics Still At Odds With Obama-Biden Abortion Policies

Archbishop criticizes Obama, Catholic allies

DENVER (AP) - Denver Roman Catholic Archbishop Charles Chaput labeled Barack Obama the "most committed" abortion candidate from a major party in 35 years while accusing a Catholic Obama ally and other Democratic-friendly Catholic groups of doing a "disservice to the church."

Chaput, one of the nation's most politically outspoken Catholic prelates, delivered the remarks Friday night at a dinner of a Catholic women's group.

His comments were among the sharpest in a debate over abortion and Catholic political responsibility in a campaign in which Catholics represent a key swing vote.

Chaput, without getting into much detail, called Obama the "most committed" abortion-rights major-party presidential candidate since the landmark Roe v. Wade decision on abortion in 1973.

"To suggest - as some Catholics do - that Senator Obama is this year's 'real' pro-life candidate requires a peculiar kind of self-hypnosis, or moral confusion, or worse," Chaput said according to his prepared remarks, titled "Little Murders."

Chaput said "activism for Senator Barack Obama, and the work of Democratic-friendly groups like Catholics United and Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good, have done a disservice to the church, confused the natural priorities of Catholic social teaching, undermined the progress pro-lifers have made, and provided an excuse for some Catholics to abandon the abortion issue instead of fighting within their parties and at the ballot box to protect the unborn."

Pro-Obama Catholics "seek to contextualize, demote and then counterbalance the evil of abortion with other important but less foundational social issues," said Chaput, who wrote a book this year, "Render Unto Caesar," about Catholics and politics.

Chaput emphasized he was speaking as a private citizen and not as a representative of the Denver archdiocese. Chaput already has said that Obama running mate Joe Biden, a Catholic, "should not present himself for Communion" because of his (Biden's) pro-abortion position

Simple Science (Not Religion) Says When "Life" Begins

LIFE BEGINS AT CONCEPTION

Dr. Jerome Lejeune of Paris, France, was a physician and Doctor of Science and Professor of Genetics for 25 years. Dr. Lejeune discovered the genetic cause for Down’s Syndrome. He received awards such as the Kennedy Prize and the Memorial Allen Award Medal; he was a member of The American Academy of Arts and Science, the Royal Society of Medicine of London, and the Royal Society of Science in Stockholm. Dr. Lejeune died April 3, 1994.

Dr. Lejeune noted that the very first cell, the fertilized egg cell or zygote, is "the most specialized cell under the sun".

In the words of Dr. Lejeune:

"Each of us has a very precise starting moment which is the time at which the whole necessary and sufficient genetic information is gathered inside one cell, the fertilized egg, and this is the moment of fertilization. There is not the slightest doubt about that and we know that this information is written on a kind of ribbon which we call the DNA…Nature has used the smallest possible language to carry the information from father to children, from mother to children, from generation to generation…At no time is the human being a blob of protoplasm. As far as your nature is concerned, I see no difference between the early person that you were at conception and the late person which you are now. You were and are a human being."

When Dr. Lejeune testified in the Louisiana legislature he stated, "Recent discoveries by Dr. Alec Jeffreys of England demonstrate that the information (on the DNA molecule) is stored by a system of bar codes not unlike those found on products at the supermarkets…it’s not any longer a theory that each of us is unique."

In 1989, during testimony on The Seven Human Embryos in Tennessee, Dr. Lejeune made the following observation:

"...as soon as he has been conceived, a man is a man."

A United States Senate Judiciary Subcommittee invited experts to testify on the question of when life begins. All of the quotes from the following experts come directly from the official government record of their testimony.1

Dr. Alfred M. Bongioanni, professor of pediatrics and obstetrics at the University of Pennsylvania, stated:

"I have learned from my earliest medical education that human life begins at the time of conception.... I submit that human life is present throughout this entire sequence from conception to adulthood and that any interruption at any point throughout this time constitutes a termination of human life....

I am no more prepared to say that these early stages [of development in the womb] represent an incomplete human being than I would be to say that the child prior to the dramatic effects of puberty...is not a human being. This is human life at every stage."

Professor Micheline Matthews-Roth, Harvard University Medical School: "It is incorrect to say that biological data cannot be decisive.... It is scientifically correct to say that an individual human life begins at conception.... Our laws, one function of which is to help preserve the lives of our people, should be based on accurate scientific data."

Dr. Watson A. Bowes, University of Colorado Medical School: "The beginning of a single human life is from a biological point of view a simple and straightforward matter—the beginning is conception. This straightforward biological fact should not be distorted to serve sociological, political, or economic goals."

A prominent physician points out that at these Senate hearings, "Pro-abortionists, though invited to do so, failed to produce even a single expert witness who would specifically testify that life begins at any point other than conception or implantation."

Colorado, South Dakota and California Consider Abortion Measures

Souix Falls SD- AP (via Drudge)
"The South Dakota initiative would outlaw abortions but includes exceptions for rape, incest and pregnancies that threaten the life or health of the woman. Some voters said they wanted those exceptions when they rejected the tougher 2006 measure 56 percent to 44 percent."

Denver CO- This new bill seeks to define the term "person" to be from the moment of conception (fertilization).
That is all this law does, (contrary to what opponents are claiming) and does not actually discuss abortion.
Under this law however, a "person" as defined, would be protected from prenatal homicide (abortion). I believe THIS is the proper way and best way to deal with Roe-V-Wade and the pro-abortion crowd.

Here is the actual language from the bill-
"Amendment 48 proposes amending the Colorado Constitution to define the term "person" to "include any human being from the moment of fertilization"; and‚ apply this definition of person to the sections of the Colorado Constitution that protect the natural and essential rights of persons, allow open access to courts for every person, and ensure that no person has his or her life, liberty, or property taken away without due process of law."

California-
Proposition 4 (California Constitutional Amendment For Parental Abortion Notification Alert)
"Sarah's Law".
"Sarah’s Law requires a doctor to notify a parent, or, in case of parental abuse, another adult family member of an unemancipated minor 48 hours before performing an abortion on her. It also requires a doctor to obtain the personal consent of a minor before performing the abortion and allows for court intervention if a minor is being coerced to have an abortion."

UPDATE:
The Colorado bill Prop 48 is essentially the "Hunter Bill" which Duncan Hunter has worked to get passed in the US House of Representatives for several years and was a part of his Presidential platform.
From ontheissues.org
Q: What will you do to restore legal protection to the unborn?
A: "Well, the first thing I would do is pass the Hunter bill which states that life does begin at conception."- Duncan Hunter

The Abomination of the Obama Nation: Babykilling

Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- A new pro-life group that features a late-term abortion survivor is running a national television advertisement against presidential candidate Barack Obama. The ad takes Obama to task for his votes against a bill to care for survivors of such abortions when he was in the Illinois legislature.
The new group, BornAliveTruth.org is a joint effort between Gianna Jessen, who survived a saline abortion decades ago, and pro-life blogger Jill Stanek.
Stanek is the former Chicago-area nurse who exposed the practice of live-birth abortions, where doctors purposefully cause the premature birth of an unborn child for the sole purpose of letting her die.
Her exposure of the practice led to the Illinois bills Obama opposed and a national law President Bush signed requiring medical centers and personnel to provide such babies with adequate medical care after birth.
"I'm a survivor, as are many others...but if Barack Obama had his way, I wouldn't be here," Jessen says in the ad.
"Four times, Barack Obama voted to oppose a law to protect babies left to die after a failed abortion. Senator Obama, please support born alive infant protections. I'm living proof these babies have a right to live," Jessen adds.
Stanek tells LifeNews.com that Obama's campaign is not officially responding to the ads.
"We're hearing from the media Obama's people are telling them they have no comment on the Gianna ad, that Obama didn't vote for Born Alive because it would undermine Roe," she said.
"Even if that were true, which it is not, am I hearing Obama admit he supports infanticide if it would otherwise interfere with legalized abortion?" Stanek added.
The $350,000 ads are airing currently in New Mexico and Ohio, two key tossup states that could determine the outcome of the election between Obama and Senator John McCain, who opposes abortion.Obama has said he voted against the Born Alive bill in Illinois because it would have undermined Roe v. Wade and the so-called right to abortion, but documents from the Illinois legislature show he voted for an amendment to rectify that issue and still voted against the bill.
The ads are run by the new group, a 527 organization known as BornAliveTruth.org and the ads are financed by Raymond Ruddy, a Mississippi pro-life activist who was a supporter of Mitt Romney during the Republican primaries.
The group says its mission "is to educate the public on the IL Born Alive Infants Protection Act and Senator Obama's record opposing this act.
